A TRIBUTE TO OUR FOUNDER, KATE LONG

Critter Haven, Inc. was founded in September, 1997 by Kate Long when it was discovered there was a need for educating the public to the dangers of pet store puppies and where those puppies come from.

We discovered early on that this was an uphill battle and would take many voices to get the word out about puppy mills and the greed-driven individuals who bring puppies into the marketplace like farmers bringing their wheat and corn crops.

Critter Haven needs your help.  By helping us to promote our educational programs regarding investigations into puppy mills and backyard breeders, you are standing with us and allowing your voice to be heard -- that you won't stand for this mass production of puppies by those only interested in the money it will bring them.

Helping us, through the purchase of our Pet Boutique products and our CafePress items or joining us in our various projects, you are making a statement.  The more of us there are, the louder our voices become.  The louder we become, the more we are heard.  We must have the volume it will take to make our leaders and legislators understand the tragedy of what is happening within the puppy mill industry.

Although Kate passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, Critter Haven will strive to continue to carry forth her dream of ridding the world of these horrible puppy mills and will endeavor to educate both the young and old about where the cute little puppies in the pet stores come from and of the horrors the parents of these pups are made to endure.  Kate is now among so many of the 4-legged creatures that passed on before her and there is no doubt she is loving on every one of them. 

Kate Long will be missed for a long, long time.  You were loved, dear Kate.
